硬盤是計算機系統中信息資源最重要的存儲設備，其所存放信息資源的價值往往要遠高于硬盤產品自身的價值。隨著硬盤的日益小型化和存儲容量的不斷增大，在硬盤上存貯的軟件系統和數據信息也更加復雜化和大型化。近年來，新型硬盤無論在容量、速度和可靠性等方面都有了飛速的發展，各類硬盤新技術層出不窮，先進技術的注入使得計算機的硬件故障率大為降低。相反地，隨著微機系統軟件和應用軟件的大型化和復雜化，計算機的軟故障卻呈現上升趨勢。微機系統的故障也主要來自硬盤子系統，“救活一個硬盤,也就救活了一套微機系統！”是廣大計算機用戶、專業檢修和維護人員的切身體會。
