Nickelback最早成立于加拿大的小城Hanna，初的成員是Chad Kroeger（吉他手）， 他的兄弟Mike Kroeger（貝斯手），他們的表兄弟Brabdon（鼓手），以及他們的好朋友Rvan Peake（吉他手），1996年由Ravn VikedalBandon接任了鼓手。1996年，他們自食其力，兼職歌手，制作以及經紀人開始闖蕩歌壇。2000年初，第二張專集 "The State" 正式發行．給當時幾乎完全被國外搖滾樂侵占的加拿大搖滾樂壇帶去了一絲本土化搖滾樂的清新。這使他們迅速竄紅。他們追求的Dost-Grunge音樂風格成為歌迷的最愛，他們的獨立傳記銷量也沒有輸給唱片產業。

2001年發行的 "Silver Side Up" 則是Nickelback事業的第一個顛峰，這張專集不但蟬聯英國搖滾專集4周冠軍，更是全美流行專集的亞軍。

此后，主唱Chad Kroeger又先后為電影《蝎子王》《蜘蛛俠》《超膽俠》等創作了歌曲并參與制作原聲帶。2003年，Nickelback的第四張專集 "The Long Road" 正式發行。其中收錄的 "Someday" 與他們最著名的 "How you remind me" 成績不相上下，受到全球歌迷的追捧，也成了Nickelback具有里程碑意義的一首歌曲。

在沉寂了兩年之后，加拿大最受歡迎的樂隊之一Nickelback發行了樂隊的第五張專輯 "All the Right Reasons"。而已經十分沉穩老練的Nickelback依靠此前兩張專輯打下的江山，使得這張新作在發行的第一周就獲得了31萬7千張的高銷量，以較大優勢領先第二名輕松獲得Billboard 200專輯榜的桂冠，同時也是近幾周專輯榜的冠軍專輯首次銷量突破30萬張。
