Johannesburg, South Africa, November 13th, 2007 - Red Five Labs, a leading mobile technology company, releases Net60 (beta 1) for immediate download. Net60 is a ground breaking implementation of the .NET Compact Framework running on S60 3rd edition devices.

Net60 enables managed Windows Mobile applications to run unchanged on S60 devices. Using C# and Visual Basic .NET in Visual Studio, developers can now use the .NET Compact Framework environment to build applications for Symbian devices.

Symbian developers can now also write applications for S60 and benefit from the RAD capabilities which .NET development offers.

就在 2007 年 11 月 13 日，南非 Red Five lab 讓這個夢想變成了事實！ Red Five lab 推出的是號稱第一個商業性軟件的 .NET Compact Framework s60 v3 （在 s60 v3 上運行的 .Net 精簡構架。簡稱 Net60 ）。從此，在采用 S60 3rd 系統的諾基亞、索愛手機上運行 Windows Mobile 應用程序就變成了現實。

S60基于Symbian操作系統，WM程序通過Net60 中間件平臺運行于 Symbian 系統上，擔負了對 WM 程序的載入、解釋工作，讓 Symbian 系統可以識別 WM 的程序并正確運行。

Net60 Beta1 分手機端和 PC 端兩部分。環境配置如下：
1。手機端 Net60Beta1.sis 軟件：需運行在 Symbian OS 9.0 9.1 9.2 ； S60 3rd Edition packs 1 、 2 的諾基亞和索愛手機上。還需 PC 套件、證書和簽名軟件。
2。PC 端 Net60Beta1.msi 軟件：需 Windows XP 、 Windows Server 2003 、 Windows Vista 。PC端需.net Framework 2.0以上版本

通過中間件來運行WM，性能上肯定有所影響，而且穩定性上也很懷疑，但這是一個美好的前景，希望未來在所有的手機平臺上都有WM的身影。
