Whose Hall?
Whose Hall?
Got up this morning feeling shattered and hungover - really must cut down on the booze. Or maybe it’s a bug. Went to make some coffee, but then remembered I’d run out. So had to make do with tea, as a result of which I’ve still got a splitting headache. Having burnt the toast, I decided to opt out of today and have a day off, as my next assignment isn’t due in for a fortnight, much to my relief. Should really have gone to Tesco’s, but couldn’t be bothered with the hassle on a Saturday, so went for the easy option and stayed in instead.
I’ve finally decided it’s time I saw more of England, so this afternoon I started reading a bit about Cambridge. The book I’ve got talks about loads of people, the vast majority of whom I’ve never even heard of, but I have to admit that lots of the places it mentions do seem worth seeing. I didn’t know that Grantchester was so picturesque. Nor did I know that there’s a famous tearoom there. The Orchard. Really must go with my colleagues sometime, but I’d much rather we waited until the better weather. And then, of course, there’s King’s College Chapel, and all that stuff about Henry VIII – not to mention all his unfortunate wives. Horrendous.
Should really make an effort and go to London - even more to see there. It’s just that it seems so much hassle, and it’s always so hectic there. But I know I’m being a bit pathetic. I just wish I could get my act together - I get quite annoyed with myself at times.
But that’s more than enough of thinking about culture for one day. I think that tonight I’ll just chill in front of the telly. Nothing depressing, though. So definitely not the News. Maybe I’ll watch a film – something light. Or maybe just some sport… Oh, and I see that there’s a documentary on BBC5: “Flying Bikes: the transport of the future?” Intriguing - I quite fancy a flying bike….
