University of Edinburgh
Our Community…
If there’s one thing that the Coronavirus pandemic has shown us, its the importance of community. So we thought you’d like to hear how student life is continuing to thrive and how members of the University community have utilised their experience, projects, and research to respond to Covid-19.
Before we get to that, we understand you may be concerned about how the continuing Covid-19 pandemic could affect teaching and learning. We currently plan to deliver a mix of in-person and digital teaching for the academic year starting in September 2021.
We’re monitoring Scottish government guidance on Covid-19 prevention measures and we’ll adjust our 2021-22 plans in response to any relevant changes. Based on current information we expect some physical distancing measures are very likely to still apply when the academic year starts in September 2021. As you’ll appreciate, this is an ever-changing situation. So when more information becomes available we will update our web page:

👏 How we’re rallying to support global efforts…
Members of our University community, across many disciplines, are continuing to bring together their skills and expertise to support global efforts to combat the Coronavirus outbreak.
Many of the University’s scientists and medical researchers switched from studies unrelated to the Coronavirus to research targeting the pandemic. You can find out more about the inspirational and important work currently being carried out across the University:

We also have 65 Sports Clubs. With everything from Snowsports to Sailing and Fencing to Football, there is something for all students at Edinburgh. Our clubs offer regular coaching, training, trips and competition, both locally and nationally and are open to all experience levels. We’ve long been recognised as Scotland’s leading sports University, consistently finishing in the top five in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) rankings.
We also offer the largest Intramural sports programme in Scotland, as well as a whole range of other recreational sport opportunities. At Edinburgh you don’t need to commit to one club or sport, we regularly offer ‘Give It A Go’, weekend trips to climb one of Scotland’s famous Munros or take part in free Stressbusters Yoga at exam time. These are fun and informal ways for students to be active, try new things and meet friends in a relaxed environment, whenever it suits.
